The whole Fremont and Pleasanton-Livermore area was administered from the Mission San Jose in present day Fremont during California's Spanish Mission era. Be sure to visit it. It's located just south of the Mission Blvd Exit from Highway 680 in Fremont.

The Niles District of Fremont was once California's first Hollywood, during the silent movie era. Charlie Chaplin made movies there. And many early cowboy movies were shot in scenic Niles Canyon, along Alameda Creek.
